Sorbara Group of Companies Celebrates 80 Years in Business

2022 marks the 80th Anniversary of the Sorbara Group of Companies! Over these years, through our team’s hard work and dedication, we have established ourselves in Ontario as a leading and innovative real estate, development, investment and management firm with a wealth of experience and a strong focus on relationships with our partners, stakeholders, homeowners and tenants. While the company has evolved and grown over the years, our commitment to upholding family values and integrity has remained steadfast – a fact we take great pride in.

In 1942, Sam Sorbara began what is known today as the Sorbara Group of Companies. The company started as an insurance business but quickly grew as Sam had a vision for what the landscape could eventually look like. He began investing in Canada’s future, buying land and initiating many other ventures.

As the company expanded, adding additional businesses and growing the real estate portfolio, We are proud to have been an industry leader with many firsts in the GTA throughout the years, such as building Toronto’s first strip mall in the 1950s, building the first McDonald’s, building the first retail power centre and completing the first residential loft conversion. Now, we have a strong organization prepared to adapt and grow within our city and our country.
